Afternoon Tea in the House Hotel

The House Hotel is a stunning Boutique Hotel in the Heart of Galway City. It is down in the Galway Latin Quarter so makes for the ideal city stay if you are visiting Galway City. It is, in fact, a luxurious 4 Star hotel and as soon as you enter it just feels decadent, and also I have to say that their pink aesthetic appeals to my girly side 🙂

I have gone for drinks in the hotel before and actually, where my first date with my boyfriend was so it is a place close to my heart. So when a few of us decided to go for Afternoon Tea yesterday I was delighted. The hotel kindly let us come in at 6pm which is later than they normally would which meant that we could all go as everyone could come in after work. Normally, they Afternoon Teas finish around 5pm, so they were great to accommodate us.

When we arrived we were greeted by the very welcoming staff who led us over to our Reserved Table and it was set up beautifully. The lobby is an interior design lovers dream. Bright and airy with a deep, luscious colour scheme. There are deep couches that you just sink into and some beautiful artwork on display as well. The entire aesthetic of the lobby was perfect for the hundreds of photos that we all ended up taking!

When I arrived I quickly relaxed on one of the pink sofas and it was great to have a proper catch-up. The table was set for evening tea and we started 🙂 They kindly gave me hot chocolate with ickle marshmallows as although I am a big tea cup fan I am not a tea drinker. The Afternoon Tea came with a layer of sandwiches, a layer of scones and then a delicious layer of sweet treats – which of course is my favourite layer 🙂

Quote of the evening came from Shona – that the fruit scones had raisins… ie. the devil’s droppings – a quote picked up from the hilarious James Kavanagh! The food was amazing and I love an Afternoon tea that has a good selection of sweets so that there is something for everyone.

If you too want to go for evening tea in The House Hotel, you do need to book in advance (Call 091 538900 or email info@thehousehotel.ie) and a deposit of one person is required. There are a few options available and you can find all the details here. We went for the Traditional Afternoon tea option and it was simply delicious so I would recommend. We did also stay for some cocktails but I will share about that next week 🙂
