Birchbox Review. August 2016. Floralesque

For so many years I have heard good things about the American Birchbox so decided to try them as they are now delivering to Ireland! This first impressions is slightly late as it has been a busy month. This box contained some great holiday items and essentials and overall not a bad box for my first Birchbox.

The theme for this month’s box was ‘Dive In’, so it was some holiday essentials inside a Scuba Birchbox neoprene bag. This is for this month only and mine was the Pink Pufferfish so came with a neon pink zip. So here is what was included in my ‘box’ this month –

Anatomicals The Buff Stuff Citrus Body Scrub

I love a good travel body scrub as they are so handy to take on holiday to keep your skin feeling fresh and this one also smells yum. It has a strong citrus scent that will be lovely to use first thing in the morning to help wake you up. This was a good addition to the box and something I will certainly use.

Amie Morning Clear Purifying Facial Wash

Well now how I could not love a product that has my name 🙂 It is quite creamy and a nice non-drying cleanser. It doesn’t clean away my makeup but is a great step when two step cleansing to get that lovely clean feeling. Or great to use in the morning as a cleanser after waking up.

PARLOR by Jeff Chastain Volumizing Lifting Spray

I have never used anything from Jeff Chastain before so am excited to try this. It claims to provide height and volume fast which with my flat hair I am excited to try this. The scent of this is just beautiful. It also contains sweet almond oil for healthier, stronger hair. Oh and did I mention the Marshmallow extract that is in it – who knew that was a thing!! 🙂

Merci Handy Antibacterial Hand Cleansing Gel

I always have a hand sanitizer in my handbag so this will replace mine when it runs out next. The scent is black vanilla and I quite like it though it is quite a strong scent. The packaging is quite cute as well. Not a very exciting addition to the box however I will use it.

Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner in Expresso

I am a forever fan of the darkest black eyeliner but I choose the expresso share in this eyeliner. It glides on super easily, was creamy in consistency and looked quite nice along my lashline. The brown was much softer than black and actually looked quite nice on. I also tried smudging it out and it is so pretty! I may just swap out my black one for a while 🙂

There was also a sample of the NUDE Perfect Cleanse Omega Cleansing Jelly which was quite small but I am looking forward to trying out.

Birchbox Review. August 2016.

The bag that the items came in is quite cute but I know from experience that this will get grubby quite quickly so I probably won’t use this day to day but may use it for travelling. It was a nice idea but the only thing that I didn’t like this month WAS the packaging. It would have been better in a box and the leaflet explaining about the contents was a scrunched up mess when I received it. I had to just throw it away which was disappointing. Having never received an item in such a manner from Glossybox – for my first Birchbox I was very surprised. But I have decided to keep my subscription for another month and give it another shot and am looking forward to seeing what comes in the September box.
