CREATE 2016 at Brown Thomas is an annual installation that is currently in it’s 6th year in the luxurious retail store and this year highlights the designs of 19 talented Irish designers across ready-to-wear, accessories, millinery and jewellery. Brown Thomas certainly does make the effort with promoting Irish Design and you may remember their other exhibition from earlier in the year. I didn’t make it to the installation last year so it has been on my list since the start of the year as one that I would not be missing this year! And it was certainly worth the visit.

The actual area that installation was curated was airy, bright and the colour scheme was inviting. I really enjoyed exploring the area and there was a vast array of differing crafts on display. The designers this year include Úna Burke, Fintan Mullholland, Aideen Gaynor, Mary Gregory, Teatum Jones, Kinsale Leather, Tory Long, Mia Parsons Design, Helena Malone, Elaine Madigan and Mariad Whisker, Sandra Plantos, Giovanna Borza, Jill De Burca, Davina Lynch, Margaret O’Connor and Richard Malone, Sarah O’Neill and Wild Cocoon.
Some of my personal favourites were the striped designs by Richard Malone, printed masterpieces by Sara O’Neill, the leather creations from Úna Burke and the luxurious collaboration of Madigan Whisker. The selection on display really showcases the high quality of talent in Ireland and makes me very excited for the future of Irish Design.
This is just a fantastic exhibition and if you are in Dublin before the 14th August when the installation ends I would highly recommend that you pop in for a look as they really have outdone themselves with both the selection of designers and the work on display.
