So you may remember in this post that I shared the exciting news that I was attending London Fashion Week with the amazing House of iKons. Well today I am back to tell you all about the event and a little more about House of iKons as well. It was founded by the beautiful Savita Kay in 2013 and was founded to support emerging designers as well as up and coming models and musicians.

Savita is a very driven, inspirational entrepreneur who founded Lady K Media in late 2011 and since then has gone to partner with some of the world’s most recognized brands such as Marks & Spencer’s and Coco Cola. She then “decided that I would love to give those who have not got that platform to promote themselves an opportunity to present to the world their various talents {via}” and House of iKons was born. And that need to aid others also resulted in her being an ambassador of the Prince’s Trust.

“Ethos of the company is to give a platform to the next generation of #iKons and present them to the world; for the world to see them shine bright like a diamond in the sky”

The AW16 show is another step up on previous shows –  BritRox TV on Sky aired the show to 400 million viewers world wide in over 76 countries which is a phenomenal achievement and goes to show how well received House of iKons is around the world. It was also held in the luxurious Millenium Hotel in Mayfair, London and was in tribute to the icon that was Prince.

The line up of the show was incredible with some amazing designers showcasing their work. The afternoon show opened with a Prince Tribute by House of iKons Team and then this was the line up; Lisa Jayne Millinery (Grand Opening), C-Atomic by Geeta Handa, Gabriella Gambetta, YEN, Ann-Celeste London, Race to the runway winner, Links by Gwen, I love Four Seasons by Emilia Walls, FFolaji London, Kyree Forrest and Reka Orosz (Grand Finale). The special host for the evening was the Pride of Britain 2012 winner and Olympic Torch Bearer, Jay Kamiraz.

What I also thought wonderful was that after each designer had shown their pieces, they came out themselves and many had their children with them – it really just added another dimension to the proceedings.  And here are some of the wonderful designs that we seen during the catwalk show.

When I arrived I actually ran into the brilliant Triona from Irish Blog Modafix which was great. A familiar face at my first Fashion Week was great and it was also quite cool to have two Sligo Bloggers in the press area of a LFW show! You may remember that I recently interviewed Triona here and her collection was actually on show at LFW as some of Emma Curtis’ models wore some of her earrings-  such a fantastic achievement for her first collection.

I love the ethos behind House of iKons and the support that they give to emerging designers. As well as that – the show that they put on was just amazing. It ran smoothly, was very well organised, everyone was so welcoming and they had arranged some fantastic entertainment as well. I also think that House of iKons manages to bring something new to London Fashion Week – to give new/emerging designers a platform. The pieces on display showcased the work of some very talented designers. Designers whose careers are only on the way up!

As you may be aware I have interviewed two of the designers that were showcasing on the day previously on Floralesque and if you are interested in learning more about them; you can read my interview with Kyree Forrest (here) and Emma Curtis (here).

The evening show included the designs of Yama, Forever Devine, Shaleena Nowbuth, EmMarie by Emma Curtis, Rocky Gathercole, Raffealla, Boastie of London, Haus of MoHawk, Sajda by Suman and Mitch Desunia. I sadly could only attend one of the shows on the day as I literally flew into London for the day and then flew back to Ireland again so I missed Emma’s designs.

Some fun phone snaps!

I am already looking forward to next year’s show and I will certainly make more of a trip to London Fashion Week and do more live coverage from the shows themselves. House of iKons can be found on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and they also have a website which shares what brands they support as well as some great interviews. And I would like to also say a massive thank you to Savita for having me.
