Sligo Design Week 2015. Floralesque.

Sligo is going to be hosting it’s first Sligo Design Week  from 31st October to 06th November and I am so looking forward to it. As you may be aware 2015 is the year of Irish Design and there have been events throughout the year to date and coming in the next few months also. As well as the Sligo Design week coming up – Galway is also hosting it’s own Galway Design Week from 02nd November to 08th November.

The lineup for the Sligo Design Week is simply amazing and full of workshops, events and talks and I am sure that the atmosphere in town will be so fun with so many talented designers and crafters in the one town!

I am hoping to travel from Galway back to Sligo for as many of the events as I can. The talks/exhibits that I am most looking forward to are the exhibition by Noelle Healy of A Study in Pretty Architecture, The Fresh Talent Exhibit (although I have already seen this when it was in Dublin Castle) and also the talk with the two fabulous handbag designers – Ashleigh Smith  from The Atlantic Equipment Project and Anna Vahey from Ana Faye Handbags.

There are also fabulous workshops on and I have signed up for these ones:

  • The Art of Lino Print
  • Beyond the Veil: Illustration workshop with Wayne O’Connor
  • Trending // Refashioning with fellow Strandhill Blogger Modafix
  • Space To Grow: Flower Crown Workshop

All of the events and talks are free but some of them (especially the workshops) require you to book in advance. It’s rare to have such an array of fantastic designers all in one place and be so accessible so if you are in the area I would certainly advise you to check the Design Week out and hopefully I will see you there x

    • Me too! It should be so fun and it’s amazing to see so many talented designers in one place as well. If you haven’t been to the Fresh Talent one – I would advise you to to go – there are some amazing Rebecca Marsden pieces on display x
