So I am back with some very exciting news today – I will be talking at an event as part of Sligo Design Week!

The talk itself is titled ‘Digital Delight: How Designer-Makers Can Work with Bloggers‘, and I will be there with Triona from Modafix.ie. It is such an interesting top and both Triona and I share a passion for promoting Irish Design through our blogs and our social media channels. I love featuring interviews with Irish Designers and crafters as you can see here, and believe it is so important to promote the talented people behind the clothes or pieces and put a proper spotlight on them.

It is also great to be able to feature emerging designers – ones that may be just out of college or creating their first collection and give them a visible platform to promote their designs. It can be difficult to get yourself seen in the digital landscape so I love to give people an avenue to have their voice heard.

If you would like to learn move about Triona who is doing the event with me and her recent move into designing her own pieces – then please click here to read my interview with her. I love her pieces – it is like carrying a piece of home with me!

And I have to say Sligo Design Week is such a fantastic week to highlight some of the many talented design people out there and get the general public involved. I loved going to the events last year and am very honoured to be a part of it this year. To get a feel of what happens at Sligo Design Week – here are some of my reviews on the events last year:

  • A talk by Ana Vahey and her journey to award winning designer – click here
  • A talk by Ashleigh Smith on the Atlantic Equipment Project – click here
  • A Flower Crown making workshop – click here
  • A refashioning workshop – click here
  • A lino printing workshop – click here

Full details on all of the talks, workshops and events can be found here and I would highly recommend that you check out all that is on – there really is something for everyone!

Our talk will be on November 09th 2016 in Sligo (exact venue to be announced), and will be from 1310 – 1410. The talk is free but you do need to register for tickets here. Hope to see some of you there! 🙂
