For most of us who grew up in Sligo we would all be familiar with the Sligo Park Hotel. I have been to many a wedding and Christening party in the hotel and other events as well – it was always a go to due to it’s easy to get to the good food, lovely staff, Â hotel location and the abundance of parking. Well, they have had a drastic refurbishment and it has brought the hotel to another level and firmly cements it in my mind to one of the top hotels in the area.
I was invited along to take a look at the changes in the hotel as well as try out their afternoon tea and we honestly had such a wonderful time. So much so that I wanted to share it on here 🙂
The RefurbishmentÂ
The entire lobby of the hotel has been changed! It is now so airy and welcoming that I can see why it is such a popular wedding venue. The colour scheme has changed and they have really made it an area that you can sit and relax in – you don’t feel rushed and the sofas are very comfortable (we really didn’t want to leave!). The entire area has really taken advantage of the available light and it makes the entire space feel much larger.
They have also changed the bar area called Jack B’s Bar – again they seem to have created a much larger area. It is bright, inviting and cosy all at the same time and looks truly modern. Gone is the darker colour scheme that I remember when I was younger and the artwork on display adds to the ambience in the area as well.
Wedding Venue
This is where they really impressed me! There was a wedding taking place that afternoon and the ballroom was all set up for the event. The couple had decided to go for a modern, clean aesthetic and it was beautiful. The actual size of the room really surprised me – they can hold up to 300 people comfortably. What I loved was that they make sure that there is no one table is stuck in a corner and the way that the main table is set up very much in the centre means that there is no one that feels left out.
They can cater for most colour schemes and themes – you just need to talk to them. That level of flexibility would be great for any couple planning their big day as you want your venue to work with you and to help you create the day that you envision. And I think that the Sligo Park would be such a wonderful hotel to do that with you.
A very impressive part of the room is the window that goes the lenght of the room – they have a beautiful outdoor area behind the window and it would make for some stunning photographs. In the actual hotel reception, the couple had personalised the setup and it added such a lovely family feel to the area and I can only imagine how fun it would be arriving after the ceremony.
The new Wedding SuiteÂ
Wow – now this is stunning! They have completely refurbished their wedding suite and it is now just stunning. The entire room feels luxurious and the bathroom is goals – it is spacious and the tub is amazing. They have really thought of everything in the room – from the Voya products in the bathroom (some of my fav’s) to the separate area that the bride can get ready in on the morning of her Wedding. I am also not going to share the entire suite with you today – I think that if you stay here for your Wedding Night it should be a beautiful surprise.
Afternoon Tea
I bought my mum along to the Afternoon Tea and it was such a lovely afternoon. We sat out in the main lobby area in those super comfortable couches and relaxed. I like that they have not tried to maximise seating with having everyone on top of each other. The entire area is spaced out so well that even when people sat on couches close to ours it didn’t disturb us at all.
The actual food was yum! We had the traditional sandwiches, scones and then my favourite part – the little cakes. The negative – too much food 🙂 We couldn’t finish it – but it was just delicious, the attention to detail on the cakes was suberb and I certainly intend to come back again to have another Afternoon Tea!
Overall they have done an amazing job on the refurbishment and have add space and luxury to the hotel. It has given it a new lease of life and no doubt will welcome so many new and repeat customer through their bright new doors.
If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Sligo, I would certainly advise to check out their website (they generally have some fantastic offers on), and if you are thinking of getting married also check them out. The venue is beautiful and the gardens are also beautiful for taking the important photos on the day as well.
A massive thank you to the Sligo Park Hotel for showing me around – we really enjoyed our afternoon and I love that they have kept the charachter of the hotel while still truely modernizing it.
Nothing to Declare.
I would agree with all this — the food is excellent — the whole place is really beautiful but best of all the Staff are all so,so nice and very, very helpful. It is the only place in Sligo Town I would recommend to dine. (We don’t go to any other place when in town to dine) Every time the one & only S.P.H.
Thank You one and all for everything and for been so kind to us when we arrive.
Couldn’t agree more – they are just so nice in there, so welcoming and the refurbishments have really added a new life into the building!
