When I was in London last week we were looking for somewhere quick to grab breakfast around Baker Street and we found a little cafe called Bills and we wandered in. And there was a queue – for breakfast! It has been quite a while since I have gone somewhere for breakfast and had to wait to be seated – we took it as a good sign and decided to wait the 10-15 minutes. And we were not disappointed.
So the food was just delicious – the pancakes were to die for and trust me once you cut into that yoke on the egg it oozed amazingly. The ingredients tasted fresh and wholesome and I would certainly go back again to try more items on the menu. I especially like the sound of their grilled halloumi, roasted red peppers and hummus burger – yum!
It is worth mentioning theIR drinks menu – and not an alcohol one. I went for a watermelon, peach and raspberry juice when I was there and it was delicious. The watermelon was so tantalizing and just felt so summery. My friend went for an ice cream float – I haven’t had one since I was a child and it brought back so many memories when I tasted it.
The restaurant itself was adorable – that is the only way that I can think to describe it with it’s jams and marmalades dotted around as well as some retro fittings. They say that they serve from breakfast to bedtime and everything in between and this certainly covers it 🙂 The staff were also great – friendly but not over-bearing. I also have a confession to make… we actually ended up eating there on both the Saturday and Sunday was we enjoyed the food so much! We had brunch style food on both days and it was as busy on each day.
What I didn’t realize until I was telling my friend who lives in London about my ‘amazing discovery‘ that Bills is actually a chain of restaurants!! I was slightly embarrassed but it is a great sign of a restaurant chain that it seemed unique enough to be a stand alone eatery. I would advise booking ahead if you are on a schedule as if they are busy you could be waiting fr a little bit.
So to check out the gem that is Bills on Baker Street (and ALL of these places…) check out their website oh and they are also on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram because you know… they are a chain of restaurants 🙂 But in all seriously we had really good food in a fun restaurant.
