On Floralesque, we love sharing details of Irish Designers, both established and also emerging and we mainly do this by interviewing the designers to learn more about them and their journey. We also share upcoming events and share gift guides featuring Irish made items. Well, we are adding to how we share about Irish Design – we are going to start a new series called ‘Brand Focus’. We will be sharing the stories of Irish Brands and why we love them. Hopefully, it might introduce you to some amazing new brands. And the first brand up is Scribble & Stone.
Scribble & Stone is a contemporary Irish accessories brand founded by the very talented Jennifer Kieran and the name signifies the fact that every design begins with a drawing, a “scribble” and the “stone” refers to gemstones which are an important component in many of their pieces.
What drew me to her brand was her use of different textiles in her pieces. I love that she is not afraid to mix different textiles – like leather and metal in the one piece and that really makes her pieces stand out. She uses materials like leather, precious metals, plated metals, gemstones, Italian cut glass and perspex in her work.
There are two collections with Scribble & Stone and they are; (1) S&S Minimals’ which is a beautiful delicate collection in durable precious metals and (2) ‘S&S Statement’ which are more experimental and fashion-forward in nature. I love her more statement pieces as I think that a great piece of jewellery can change your outfit instantly and elevate it to another level.
It is no wonder that she won “Best jewellery Product” at Showcase 18 and was also short-listed for a Fashion Innovation Award 2018. Her work speaks for itself and I hope that you will check out more of her pieces as they would make the most amazing gift for a loved one or a treat for yourself!
