There are some Irish Designers that I have followed for years and their style and creations still pull me in each time – and Catriona Hanly is certainly one of them. The London based Irish designer has created a collection of Autumn Winter full of opulence, luxury and classic elegance.
Catriona is a well established Irish Designer and one whose career has been fantastic to watch unfold. She first established a jewellery line in over 350 boutiques in Ireland, the UK and the US. She then went on to deliver interiors projects in leading hotels and private residences across the globe all the while gathering ideas and stimulation for fabrics and finish, developing a unique and inimitable style. It was after this that she studied the prestigious Central St Martin’s in London and also at the Barbara Bourke College of Fashion in Dublin.
Her work is well renowned by many of the fashion influentials as well as having caught the eyes of celebrities such as Wolf of Wall Street actress Madison McKinley in LA; Amanda Byram, Victoria Smurfit and Vogue Williams in London; as well as Daniella Moyles, Ash Quinn and Alison Canavan in Dublin, to name but a few.
This season her work finds itself on the elegant side of whimsy. And it is enticing. I love that her collection is like a timeless heritage, you could buy a piece from her collection and it will still look stylish, elegant and of a classic deposition in five years time. For this designer, her inspiration always comes from the fabric and across her collections Parisienne themes emerge.
The equestrian element of the styling on the shoot adds an unexpected country vibe which I think adds to the heritage feeling with a unique style statement. At the same time, there’s a daringness to this collection that keeps things ultra sophisticated. From red Chantilly lace rose details to layered candy-floss-like ruffles this collection is a sartorial feast for the senses.
The Chanel blouse is the standout piece of the collection for me – both the white and also black are beautiful but it is the white that has stolen my heart. I adore the drama, the high fashion and the Parisian edge that the blouse has. Catriona has a unique eye for rich fabrics, delicate textures and classic colour and this blouse in particular really emulates this. She is one of my favourite designers for a reason and this blouse captures quite well the reason why.
If you are looking for a beautiful Irish Designed piece to add to your wardrobe then I would certainly recommend that you check out Catriona’s website, and she is also on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
