Dinner and Cocktails at Nox Hotel, Galway

I was recently invited to spend a night at the Nox Hotel in Galway and I thought why not and loved that I could bring my fiance with me for a night away. We decided to pop along on a Sunday as it would the perfect end of the weekend.

When we arrived the check in process was super quick and to be honest we were up in our room before we knew it. There was no faffing at reception which suits me just fine – we got our room number, details on the WiFi, breakfast and restaurant opening hours all with a smile and then away we went! The reception and hotel lobby are modern, open plan and have some adorable nooks and areas for sitting and relaxing. We knew that we would be back down for a cocktail (or two!).

The Room… We decided while at the hotel to settle down to wedding planning as there would be few distractions and we could just relax. We hoped that the room would have a table or somewhere that we could get out our laptops (which it did) and get planning. When we got to our room, we were greeted with fresh fruit and yummy Lily O’Brien’s chocolates and Blu Planet was on the TV – talk about great timing!  The room was delightfully spacious and thankfully the WiFi was fast and had no annoying sign up to get access to it.  So we got to our planning and I’ll be honest the relaxed atmosphere really helped us focus. Also, surprisingly we couldn’t hear a peep from the cars on the road outside.

Now onto the food…. We decided to have dinner in their Fork restaurant and also to try out their cocktails as well. We both started with the soup which was delicious and also they served hot bread rolls – any restaurant that goes to that effort has my vote. Since we are both vegetarians, we did find the dinner menu limiting which was slightly disappointing. The vegetarian options were either a vegetable Indian curry or a Half Roasted Butternut Squash so we both went with the Indian Curry. The Naan that came with it was honestly some of the yummiest that I have had but the curry was slightly too spicey for me. We are planning to go back for the lunch menu – the Grilled Halloumi Salad is calling my name! And if we are planning to go back I think that speaks for the quality of the food as well.

Now onto the desserts….. this menu was much more up my street! Himself went for the Avocado, Lime & Coconut ‘Cheese’ Cake, and I went for a selection of ice cream (with toffee sauce) and both were delicious. We may just have to try some other dessert options when we go back for lunch…

And the cocktails….the cocktails were delicious. Due to the time of year they had some festive options as well – so we ended up going for an Eggnox and a then not so festive Sex on the Beach and they were finished much faster than we should have drunk them – always a good sign. If I was looking for somewhere to relax and catch up with some friends after work I think that this would be a good option – a chilled out lobby/bar area with well-made cocktails.

Are you even able?! Look how stunning their Christmas tree is!

The Nox Hotel would actually be perfect if you are visiting Galway for work reasons or also if you are popping away for a weekend. If you are thinking of coming to Galway to do some Christmas shopping or visit the Christmas market then this may just be the perfect place to stay. It is not in the very centre of town, but you can easily walk into town or nab a taxi in. And not being in the centre of town has the benefit of great night’s sleep and feeling like you really are on a great retreat away from the hustle and bustle.

And as you may have seen on Instagram we had a ball 🙂

You can check out more here about the hotel, and they often have special offers on which you can check out here. If you want to see more about the hotel they are also on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!

A massive thank you to Nox Hotel for having me, this post is not sponsored and all opinions my own.
