Faisean Éire presents ‘Two in Eight,’ the unique Fashion Showcase in aid of Pieta House.
An exciting Fashion Showcase is happening in 2 days time in the arty setting of the Chocolate Factory, 26, King’s Inn St, Dublin 1. The unique fashion showcase will show pieces from Irish Designers and the performance will include not only a catwalk show highlighting 30 distinctive pieces, representing the work of 10 fashion graduates and students, but will also feature murals painted by six local artists, and displays by aerial artists.
This show is the only one of its kind to bring together three art forms in one venue: the fashion show from designers at the start of their professional careers, presenting a range of collections from standard high-street designs with a twist, to whimsical, extraordinary pieces; the rare opportunity to view quirky artworks displayed as murals on the walls of an industrial setting; and three aerial artists who will give stunning displays of their skills using aerial hoops, ropes and silks.
Evelyn Rouiller, Managing Director of Grafton Academy, noted: “It is fantastic to see so many Grafton Academy alumna working together to exhibit their work. We are heartened to see such an innovative platform celebrating student creativity’.
This pioneering show, ‘Two in Eight’, is named from the statistic that 1 in 4 people in Ireland will suffer from mental health issues, and is fund-raising for this cause. All ticket revenue after costs will be donated to Pieta House, whose counsellors specialise in helping those with suicidal ideation. “Pieta House operates a network of centres across the country, employing 270 qualified therapists. In 2018 we saw over 7,000 clients who were either at risk of suicide, engaging in self-harm, or bereaved by suicide. Demand for our one to one, free, professional counselling services continues to grow year on year which would be unattainable without public fundraising initiatives such as this” explained Sinéad Ronan Wells, Fundraising Executive, Pieta House.
I know that it is quite short notice of such a fab event, but in a dreary January, it could be just the event to cheer up your January. You can buy the tickets on Ticketmaster here.
