Last week, I shared the accessories and millinery pieces that graced the Galway Designer Network AW17 Showcase (which you can read here) and there were some stunning pieces on display. Well, today I wanted to share a little about the fashion catwalk show. I was blown away by some of the pieces and today I wanted to share some of my favourite looks.
There were five fashion designers whose pieces graced the runway – Esther Chidi Ikegwuruka from Dandydoll Fashion, Gayle Poppers from Kizmet Clothing, Deirdre Kennedy from Singing in the Rain, Maeve Aye from Re Ason Ireland and last but certainly not least Virtue Shine from Emerald & Wax.
For those not aware, the Network was set up in February of this year by designers Gayle Poppers and Ann Petrov. They are according to them a group created to help promote, connect with and bring awareness to independent Designers and Crafters in Galway and the West of Ireland. They have many different types of designers in the network – from milliners to jewellery to knitwear and all in between. I love the idea of the network, and certainly, for those just starting out – support like this is invaluable. From talking to different emerging designers, I have heard first-hand how hard it can be for designers to know where to turn at the start so having somewhere like this to talk to is so helpful.

You can read more about the network by taking a look at their website, and if you are interested in attending some of their future showcases then certainly keep an eye on their Facebook page.
