I firmly believe that the talent and creativeness of up and coming designers need to be both nurtured and also supported in order to grow both their own skills but also their business. From speaking to so many designers in my Floralesque Meets interview series on here, I have seen how tough it can be to get started and set up. There are so many challenges that designers face that when I saw the Galway Designer’s Network was setting up a retail space for local designers I was intrigued!
The Galway Designer Network has featured on Floralesque below as I was invited to attend their Fashion Showcase earlier in the Autumn. If you would like to read more about the showcase – this post is about the fashion show and this post is about the accessories show. I like that they have seen a gap in support for local Galway designers and stepped up to try and help support them.
The store has been described as a hub of creativity facilitating the growth of independent fashion & accessory designers, whilst creating a support network with one another within the industry. I love the sound of that – especially if it means that designers can work togeather to learn more and grow their brands.
On display in store, there is everything from jewellery to clothing to accessories to millinery creations. And since there is such a wide variety of designers renting a rail in there the difference in style between them is fantastic to see. The creativity that they have is just amazing, and the outstanding quality is clearly evident. Some of the designers include Cozy Handmade Designs, Blackfield Clothing Studio, The Lion and the Monkey, Bead-Jewelled by Eithne, Sylph Designs, Kizmet Clothing and many more!
If you are visiting or living in Galway, the Galway Designer’s Network store can be found at 14-15 The Cornstore, Middle Street/Augustine Street, Galway City. You can read more about the network by taking a look at their website, and their Facebook page. There is also a Facebook page just for the Studio. Could be a good idea to pop in if you still have some Christmas Presents to buy!
