Recently I shared the details for an upcoming Galway Designer’s Network Spring Summer Showcase, well today, I wanted to share all some of the fashion pieces that were shown on the catwalk at the presentation. It was such an enjoyable event, and you could see that from the designers beaming as they were showcasing their work to the models wearing the pieces coming down the catwalk to the people in the front row snapping pictures throughout.
Cozy Handmade Designs
Ann Petrov is the designer behind the Cozy Handmade Designs Brand, and I love the crochet aspect of her pieces. The looks below are soft yet elegant and look like they would be so comfortable to wear as well. I loved seeing her pieces coming down the runway, and the models looked so comfortable wearing her pieces which is always a good sign. You can see more of Ann’s work on both her website and her Instagram.
Roseanne McNamee Designs
It was so great to see Roseanne’s Designs in person on the catwalk – you may remember that we interviewed her here, so it was great to see her latest collection. I loved the vibrancy of her pieces, the colours were stunning and the final details of her work were just beautiful. She is certainly a designer whose work I am really looking forward to seeing more of in the future. You can see more of her work on her on her website, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!
Deirdre Kennedy Rainwear
Deirdre’s raincoats were one of my favourites of the evening. I adore the drama of her longer raincoats and the vibrant twirl that you can achieve by a simple wing around. The quality of the coats is so easily seen, and the vibrancy of the collection on display was just beautiful. She always gets oooohs and aaaaahs when her pieces walk down the runway! I would highly recommend taking a look at her pieces on her website and you can also follow her Singing in the Rain on Instagram.
Kizmet Clothing
What I love about Kizmet Clothing is the fit and design that Gayle Poppers has brought to her collection. The clothes are beautifully made, but even more than that they are versatile and the end wearer is clearly always in the mind of the designer. The prints and textures of the collection on the catwalk were really eye-catching, and I simply adored the layering on many of the pieces. You can check out more of Kizmet Clothing on their website as well as check out their Instagram!
Vintage Desire Boutique
Cherie White is the talent behind Vintage Desire Boutique, and her vintage-inspired lingerie is just stunning. They are delicate and elegant, with a sense of grace. For the current collection at the showcase, 1930’s lingerie and Art Deco architecture was the inspiration and that can be seen throughout the pieces. You can see more of her work here.
The Galway Designers Network is a group which was created in March 2017, to help promote, connect with and bring awareness to independent Fashion Designers in Galway and the West of Ireland. And since they started they have promoted Galway Designers online, offline and have given emerging designers a platform to show their creations to a wider audience that they may not have otherwise had.
They have also opened their amazing studio where designers can rent a space to retail their creations to customers. You can read more about the network by taking a look at their website, and their Facebook page. A massive thank you to Gayle for the invitation, I really enjoyed the event, nothing makes me happier than seeing Irish Designed pieces been shared.
I will be following up with separate posts on both the millinery pieces and the accessories that were on display on the day. There is just too much to try and share in one post!
Ireland needs home brewed creators like this. I hope they become heavily funded and accredited to become more than just a great idea but an empire of enterprises.
Hi Jimmy, I fully agree! There is some amazing talent on our shores and we need to make sure to promote and support it
