Fashionistas take note – this week signals the start of Galway Fashion Week. This events starts on the 08th March and runs right through to 12th March. I will give you the run down of events and if you are free I would highly suggest that you check out some of the events. You can also expect quite a few fashion related posts this week.
GTI Fashion Fiesta Model Walk followed by ‘Culture Crash’ Fashion Show
When On: Wednesday 09th March
Where: Walk starts from GTI College to Eyre Square @ 5pm
Where: The Fashion show will take place in the G Hotel, Galway @ 6pm
The Details: The theme this year for the GTI Fashion Fiesta in ‘Culture Clash’ and on Wednesday the models will make the Galway City Centre their catwalk as they walk from GTI College down to Eyre Square at 5pm.
Following the Model Walk, the GTI students will showcase their designs in the G Hotel from 6pm and this show will be hosted by former Rose of Tralee and GTI Nursing graduate, Maria Walsh.
All GTI Fashion Fiesta Showcase events are free and open to the public but donations will be gratefully accepted for local charity ‘Hope’ this year. Please see www.gti.ie for further information. Guests are asked to arrive to the G Hotel before 6pm.
Irish Fashion Innovation Awards 2016
When On: Thursday 10th March @ 7pm
Where: Radisson Blu Hotel, Galway
The Details: The Radisson will be hosting the Irish Fashion Innovation Awards 2016, for a full listing of all nominees and details of the event please click here. I am very excited to be attending as a guest of the Into the West Blogger Network and Galway Now magazine.
On the 10th, Galway’s shop windows will also come to life with a series of amazing “Live” windows at Anthony Ryans and other city fashion outlets. The models in the windows will wear outfits created by GTI fashion students.
Business and Product Development Workshop
When On: Friday 11th March @ 11am
Where: Council Chamber on Prospect Hill in Galway city
The Details: A Business & Product Development Workshop will be presented by Eddie Shanahan, Chairperson of the Council of Irish Fashion Designers and is suited to those in the millinery, craft and fashion enterprises. Pre-registration is required and you can find tickets here.
Meet Designer Heidi Higgins
When On: Friday 11th March @ 11-2pm
Where: Brown Thomas, Galway
The Details: Although no strictly part of Galway Fashion Week, Irish Designer Heidi Higgins will be visiting Brown Thomas, Galway. Her designs are incredible and you can check them out here.
When On: Saturday 12th March @ 10amThe Details: Our Saturday will be starting with a scrumptious breakfast hosted with the Into the West Blogger Network & Galway Now Magazine and myself and 29 other bloggers will be catching up and prepping for the Galway Fashion Trail. Galway Fashion Trail
When On: Saturday 12th March @ 11-5pm
Where: Galway City
The Details: Galway City will be hosting the amazing Galway Fashion Trail. This trail will lead us through the city and we will be visiting different retailers to view their designs and each retailer will include the collection of one Galway-based designer as part of their fashion show. The last Galway Fashion Trail was a great success so I have no doubt that this one will be also. And finally here is the program;
