It is hard to believe that it is that time of year again – but it is December! Christmas is certainly my favourite time of year and I love buying local and supporting local designers and makers. So this year with the exception of a classics post of things that never go out of style – I will be sharing what you can buy from Irish makers and crafters! And this is the first in the series – all about handmade jewellery that will make the most beautiful Christmas presents.
Bláithín Ennis
Bláithín is one of Ireland’s most well know jewellery designers and I for one love her work. She makes pieces that are beautifully manipulated and that have contrasting hard materials with a soft finish. She makes all her pieces by hand and released her very first collection back in 2012. Her pieces are beautiful and unique and I think that a pair of her earrings would make the perfect stock filler.
You can shop her online store here.
Juvi Designs
Juvi Designs create some of the most beautiful gemstone pieces and the colours that they use are so vibrant and eye catching that you can’t help but fall in love with their pieces. They create beautiful gemstone necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings – all are finished beautifully and they add such an eye-catching detail to any outfit.

Maria Dorai-Raj
Maria creates some of the most beautiful pieces of jewellery. The flow and apparent movement of the metal work that she has done make her designs beautiful and really visually stunning. She fuses modern design with traditional, superbly executed craftsmanship.I have one of her pieces and when I wear it I always get asked where it is from so this is certainly a designer whose pieces draw all the right sorts of attention. This is certainly one gift that the person receiving will wear time and time again.

Chupi
Chupi creates some simply stunning pieces of jewellery. There are so many beautiful collections to choose from including the feathers, leaves, twigs and knot collections. All bring something slightly different to the table but the same level of quality and elegance can be found in each collection. The I Can Fly Maxi Swan Feather Necklace below is one of my favourite designs that she creates and I think so many people would love to receive this as a gift.

Martina Hamilton
Martina is someone whose career has spanned over 25 years and I remember even as a teenager getting so excited when I received one of her beautiful pieces as a birthday or Christmas present. Now a good few years later that love for her pieces has not changed. Her new shore collection would make a beautiful addition to any jewellery collection this Christmas.

Scribble and Stone
Scribble and Stone make some really unusual pieces with some amazing textures incorporated into them. They create beautiful wearable pieces that can be worn equally during the day or out at night. What I find so interesting about their pieces is the combination of textiles that they use like leather, metal, gemstones, Italian cut glass, rubber and laser cut perspex. These would be the perfect gift for your best friend or sister and I know I have one of the chains below on my wishlist this year.

There will be a second follow-up post (which you can read here) with even more jewellery to shop – I couldn’t fit them all into one post 🙂 And if there are any Irish Designers that you love – please let me know and I can feature them.
