Many years ago everyone was wearing the slogan tee and it was the height of fashion, but then as many things do in fashion it fell from favour. Well, recently the graphic tee has been experiencing a Renaissance of a sort and when I saw the fab collaboration between graphic artist Kim Gordon and one of my favourite high street retailers & Other Stories I literally squealed!! It has the feel of a rebirth of the punk era and I am enamoured.
Kim Gordon is a legendary musician and co-founder of Sonic Youth. She really is an iconic artist and the pieces feel authentic and original which I think is fantastic. So many collaborations feel a copy of something else – certainly not a case with this collection! The collection is a 16 piece collection that includes tees, hoodies, sweatshirts, necklaces, scarves and more. All of them are striking and certainly, would make a cool addition to many wardrobes.
The collection features handwritten artworks that are performative but also exude a vulnerability, contrasting the structure of the clothes
I love the use of words like “Her”, “They”, “The End”, and the abstract look of many of the designs have really drawn me in. This is not the first time that Kim has set foot into the fashion world – she has been a star to previous Marc Jacobs and Saint Laurent campaigns as well as starting the streetwear brand X-Girl way back in 1993.
Oh and did I mention that her daughter Coco Gordon Moore is modelling the collection? And their dog Syd also shows up 🙂 You can follow Kim on her Instagram and Twitter and of course, check out the L.A. Inspired collection online on & Other Stories! Do you love it as much as I do? 🙂
And I will you with a behind the scenes look at their shoot for the collection;
