Breakfast in Pret was the first call of the day and I ended up just having a croissant and a bottle of water. Something I really regret is not bringing my Chillys water bottle with me – I went through so many bottles of water today and it feels like such a waste of plastic. It doesn’t help that at 180 The Strand where many of the shows are on give our mini bottles of Evian.
Minki Catwalk Show / Presentation
This was my first show of the day and so far my favourite of all that I have seen. There are at least 4 pieces that I could actually see me wearing in real life. The colours and the patterns that Minki Cheng brought to the catwalk and then the following presentation just had me captured from the start. It was fun, bright and she really played with colour. It almost felt like a playground from the set to the actual pieces being shown on the runway. It was kooky to see but somehow all came together to be one cohesive collection.
Fashion Scout; Ones to Watch Catwalk Show
This is an amazing showcase and showcases some fantastic emerging designers. Price on Request, Aucarre and Nous Etudions were the three wonderful designers who won the Award to show their work at LFW.
Farzaneh H. Christensen Catwalk Show
Farzaneh H. Christensen creates some simply stunning gowns with beautiful intricate beading. She uses beautiful silks in her pieces and tries to source from around Europe. It felt like I was being whisked away to a Disney Princess try on while watching the show.
I actually ended up sitting unknowingly beside UK designer Andrew Majtenyi – I love how at LFW shows you never quite know who you are sitting beside. And striking up a simple conversation with someone can give you such good insight into the industry.
Fashion Finest
The show was delayed quite a bit starting which meant a long time standing in the press pit. As always the other photographers were fun and so focused – it is actually quite inspiring. But it did mean that when the show started I was quite tired (sharing the honest truth here!).
I was very excited to see the work of Hope Macauley as her pieces are so bright and colourful and I just love her sense of fun with her work. And I was not disappointed – she closed the show and it was just amazing!! I don’t want to give all away about this show as there will be a full piece to follow on all of the designer’s work as I was quite impressed.
Then it as onto Pizza in the Everyman cinema in Hampstead with a friend and we watched BlacKkKlansman which to be honest was an excellent film but one that had me in tears at the reality of life at the end. One to go to the cinema to watch for sure. And I am just about to now go to bed… only one more day!
