My Shop…Granny likes it is one of the most adorable and and inspiring stores in Galway. It is ran by Rona O’Reilly whose love of Irish Design and Craft is palpable once you enter her store. I have popped into the shop so many times at this stage and was delighted when Rona agreed to give me a tour around the shop and we discussed some of her favourite designers as well.
It was so great to talk to someone who is as passionate about Irish Design as I am and it was fun talking about both established designers and what they are creating as well as the new kids on the block. It is shops like this one that really help highlight Irish talent to the wider audience and with the high levels of tourists that visit Galway creators being stocked here is a great opportunity to showcase their work.
My Shop…Granny likes it stocks so many different types of items from jewellery to books to pottery to quirky crafts and the designers are also as diverse. From Scribble & Stone to Juliet Ball Pottery to Roisin Gregory Ceramics and all in between. This is just a small selection of what was in store when I popped in – their stock is constantly moving and changing so I can’t wait to pop in again and I also think I know where I will be buying most of my Christmas presents from this year…
Next time you are in Galway I would highly recommend popping into My Shop…Granny likes it on 29/31 Upper Abbeygate Street in Galway City and you can also follow along with them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter! This is one of the local businesses that you want everyone to go into to not only because the articles they sell are amazing but also because the people who run it are so amazing.
