As you may be aware Vogue was first published in 1916 so this year celebrates it’s 100 year Anniversary. Still being in publication and in such demand all around the globe is quite the achievement and I know that when I brought the June 100 Year Anniversary edition (with stunning cover girl the Duchess of Cambridge) I felt as though it was a piece of history that I bought.
After visiting the Vogue 100: A Century of Style Exhibit in London (you can read about it here) I also noticed that some of the stores around the city actually had Vogue themed windows which I really wanted to share as they are so unusual and I haven’t seen this done before for any other publication. The Reiss one above is my clear winner though Liberty below had SO many copies of the issue it must have taken hours to arrange!
If you did miss the June Anniversary Issue, then there is another opportunity to collect a piece of history – for the September issue they will publish Vogue: Voice of a Century. This will be ‘published by Genesis in a limited-edition of 1,916 numbered and signed copies, will celebrate the photographs, illustrations, interior spreads, features, covers and contributors from 10 decades worth of issues’.{via}
And in you have a few spare minutes here is quite a good history of Vogue told by Poppy Delevingne – it really is amazing how soaked in history Vogue truely is.
Stunning *heart eyes emoji*
The effort that the stores went to is amazing – plus while looking for the stores that were doing Vogue windows – it was the best excuse for shopping 🙂
