Sadly I could not make the Penny’s (Primark) Spring Summer 2018 Press Day but I was hooked watching so many other attend that I want to share some of my top picks with you today.
There are five different trends that the retailer is capturing in Mono Remix, SS18 Club Mix, Castaway, Midnight Cowboy and Asian Wonderland. As you can imagine the collection is quite extensive so today I wanted to pick out the pieces that I have not stopped thinking about since I saw them.
Over the past few years, I feel that Penny’s have really upped their game. They are so bang on trend most of the time and sometimes even now seem to influence the trends as they pop up. They have also upped their children’s department with some fantastic licensing agreements like Disney and Harry Potter which I think we can all agree has been a hands-down success.
Surprisingly for their SS18 pieces, there were more coats/jackets than I expected but I guess for our weather this is pretty much perfect! I fell in love with the camel coat above (which will be €30) and no doubt something that will stay ‘fashionable’ longer than just the Spring Summer season.
This bag is quite Chloe inspired and I think will be the perfect crossbody in the Spring to lighten up the evenings. The long strap looks like it will be a great length and the colour will no doubt go with the typical Spring palette of brighter colours and when florals start to seep back in again. Yellow also features heavily in the Spring so this bag will be just perfect.
I loved this look – the retro top with the green jacket on top would be so perfect for wearing on the weekends in town if you are running messages or shopping. I am not a fan of the shoes paired with it but love the rest of the look.
There was also a great sense of the late 80’s which brought a sense of fun to the collection. This is shown with some power dressing pieces. and is a predicted continuation from last season. Pennys are calling this the Mono Remix and the colour combo of black, white and red on stripes, checks and spots of different scales. Tie detailing on tops and dresses flatter all body shapes and the deep V-neck vertical striped red dress (below and will be €16) is the hero piece that will update any spring wardrobe seamlessly. Clean black denim pieces and the nylon hooded zip-through add a darker sportier dimension to the monochrome trend.

I warn all now – I will be wearing red stripes a lot next year! Are there any pieces that caught your eye from the collection? It will be available from December and I know I will have an eye out for the vertical stripe dress and that camel coat!!
