Trend Report: Bamboo Wicker Bags

If there is one trend in accessories that has really kicked off this season it is the Bamboo Wicker Bag trend. We have seen these everywhere, from Fashion Week to Celebrities carrying them to high street store stocking them. It has been somewhat of a slow burner as I remember first taking note of the Wicker Bag Trend back in the Summer of 2016, but since then it has gotten stronger and this Summer the high street has certainly embraced bamboo/wicker bags.

We, of course, have to start with the cult favourite from Cult Gaia. I am sure that so many of you have seen their beautiful bamboo Arc bag at this stage – if not the Authentic one, then certainly one of the many versions on the High Street. They are structured, and the half-moon shape adds another dimension to so many looks. I adore this bag for three simple reasons (1) the shape is unusual and still practical (2) you will be able to use it for many seasons to come (3) It is so easy to change the look by adding accessories like a bright scarf etc. to it. For such a cult favourite it is not too expensive with the mini starting at €140.  And we have some good news to share as well – it is coming to Brown Thomas soon!

Mango Bamboo coffer bag

Next up is another favourite – this round bamboo bag by Mango. Also, slight sidenote, but anyone else really loving Mango recently? They seem to have really upped their game, especially their accessories. Anyway, this circular Coffer bag is just stunning – it looks timeless with the simple black leather strap as the handle, and also with the removable black crossbody strap. Oh and also, the lining is just so Summery with the nautical style stripes. It is not too expensive at €49.95 and you can buy it here. (It also ticks the box of circular bags this Spring!).

Mango Basket Bag

There are also some stunning basket style pieces available. The use of straw, wicker, rattan, bamboo etc. makes the bags looks just beautiful, and just scream Summer. I am not a huge fan of the bags that resemble picnic baskets as a little too kitsch for me, but they certainly will appeal to many and can add a playful touch to an outfit.
