  • Details: TULCA’s popular Artists’ Talk series continues for this year’s edition of TULCA Festival of Visual Arts ‘Syntonic State’ curated by Linda Shevlin. The Centre for Creative Arts & Media, GMIT will host a talk by a Syntonic State exhibiting artist every Monday for 5 weeks. Conor McGarrigle is a new media artist, researcher and lecturer in Fine Art in the Dublin School of Creative Arts at DIT. He holds a PhD from the Dublin Institute of Technology, an MFA from the National College of Art and Design Dublin, a BSc from University College Dublin and was an Irish Government-funded Research Scholar at GradCAM Dublin from 2008-2012.

Art Event – Taispeántas na bhFlaitheas

  • Details: Group show: Ger Coughlan / John Corbett / Tom Moore. Ger Coughlan is a native Galwegian. He has lived in Dublin, Cork and in New York City, where he completed his studies. Ger is a painter and printmaker. He primarily paints portraits, figurative scenes and landscapes, and occasionally still life’s. He studied painting under the well-respected artist Hugh Mc Cormick in Galway R.T.C. (now Cluain Mhuire), where he graduated with a Degree in painting and printmaking. He later completed his Higher Diploma in Art Teaching at Crawford College of Art and Design, Cork. He completed his figurative and portrait studies with Mary Beth Mc Kenzie and Joseph Peller at the Art Students League in New York, and with Dan Gheno at the National Academy of Design in New York City. Ger has worked as a portrait and mural painter in New York City. He has exhibited in the past in group shows and at the Kenny Gallery Galway, and in New York City. Tom Moore: ( Retrospective). Tom Moore was the owner of the ‘Travelling light’ Gallery on Quay Street in the 1980’s. he was also the owner of the ‘Halycon Art Gallery in Limerick City. Tom was an avid photographer who created photo montages of Galway City and Connemara. Galway City Gallery is delighted to exhibit a selection of Tom’s work. Other artists participating in this exhibition include and John Corbett.

Comedy Event – Stand Up Workshop

Music Event – Kiran Leonard

  • Details: Kiran Leonard is a 22-year-old musician from Saddleworth, Greater Manchester. Debut album proper Bowler Hat Soup (2014) and follow-up Grapefruit (2016) were both recorded at home, with Kiran playing virtually every instrument himself. Derevaun Seraun (2017), a concept album in five movements inspired by five pieces of literature and arranged for piano, strings and voice, was an ambitious departure from his usual sound.
