Tourist Event – Shamrock Free Walking Tour

  • Location -Skeffington Arms, Eyre Square, Galway
  • Time: 11:00 & 14:00
  • Cost: Free – they simply ask anyone who comes on our tour to make a donation at the end if they had a good time.
  • Details: Visiting Galway, new to the West, or looking to see a new side to the city? Then our tours are made for you! We try to mix history, legend, theatre, conversation, laughter and our own idiosyncrasies into one eventful walk around Galway City. We drop all of the following sites and talk about their place in Galway’s past and present: Eyre Square, Galway’s Medieval Walls, Lynch’s Castle, St. Nicholas’s Church, Lynch’s Window, Quay Street, & The Spanish Arch. These tours are aimed at individual and small groups of travellers who would find it hard to book private tours. As a result, they are not suitable for groups of more than eight people. However, we do run private tours for these large groups, so feel free to get in contact with us to arrange a private tour.

Film Event – Little Cinema

  • Details: Little Cinema is a short film showcase running since 2010, set up by three film-maker friends who met in college in Galway. It showcases films of all genres made by talented local film-makers of all levels from beginners to professionals. Over the 4 years it has screened over 400 films from over 170 film-makers and has provided an invaluable platform for film-makers and film-lovers to meet, network, showcase their work and simply enjoy films.

Musical Event – Raelach Records Live @ The Black Gate Cultural Centre

Music Event – Jess Edlin + Warren Attwell live

  • Details: Catch Jess Edlin and Warren Attwell as they perform a joint headlining tour around Ireland this June! JESS EDLIN – Jess Edlin is a contemporary singer-songwriter based in Belfast. Best known for her healthy addiction to gritty guitars, which play paradox to her ethereal vocals and a variety of experimental instrumentation. “From triphop backing tracks to delicate love songs, Jess delves comfortably into each little world of her own through her songs. One of the most surprising and creative artists in the local musical circuit and if you haven’t been lucky enough to see her perform yet, you simply must” Chordblossom.com WARREN ATTWELL  -Combining the raspy vocals of a young Bryan Adams with guitar tones straight from the John Mayer playbook, Warren Attwell is a pop-rock singer-songwriter with substance. Having released his latest EP ‘Holding On For Something’ (a collaboration with Deep Purple producer Darren Schneider) and being nominated for Best of British Unsigned Male of the Year 2016, Warren has been touring extensively throughout Europe, North America and Eastern Asia since 2013.

Traditional Irish Dance Event – Mise Eire – I am Ireland

  • Location – The Black Box, Dyke Rd, Terryland, Galway
  • Time: 20:30
  • Cost: €30 / €25
  • Details: Mise Eire The Show takes the audience on a journey through Ireland’s rich past. Visiting fascinating characters such as Grace O’Malley, The Pirate Queen of Connacht and Cu Chulainn the Irish Warrior, this production boasts stunning examples of Irish traditional music, song and dance. Visit the famous fishing village of The Claddagh and hear the story of the Claddagh ring. Stand on the steps of the GPO during the 1916 Easter Rising and come aboard a ship during the 1800’s when Irish People left Ireland in the search of a better life in America. Foodie Event – Tasting Club – Of Fire

  • Location -America Village Apothecary & Tasting Room, 31 Dominick Street Lower, Galway
  • Time: 19:00 – 21:00
  • Cost: €45
  • Details: Our focus for this month is ‘Of Fire’. Bia Botanica will prepare the food, comprising of 3 small courses. You will be handed an Aperitif on arrival. There will be different natural wines served with each course, each one described by Enrico from Grapecircus Wines. The Tasting Club is for a limited number of people, we arrange the Tasting Room so that there are two large central tables, this way people can relax and experience new tastes and flavours in a relaxed communal setting. The evening will be curated by Victoria McCormack. This month we have taken the theme ‘Of Fire’ with a nod to the Summer Solstice and ritual and significance of fire at this time of the year.

Irish Design Event – Milliners Expo

  • Details: We will be showcasing some of the amazing Milliners on offer, in the lead up to Races season ahead. For 4 days, there will be an expo within the Galway Designers Studio House, of some of the finest headpieces around, along with the opportunity to meet with the milliners, to design your own bespoke hat. There will also be a small model showcasing on Saturday, showing not only millinery but accessories and outfits which will have you in top style!

  • Details: Our Ocean Wealth Summit – Set a course for Galway on the 28th and 29th of June for the Our Ocean Wealth Summit 2018. This year’s summit, ‘Investing in Marine Ireland’, will highlight the immense opportunities that our marine sector has to offer companies and organisations in Ireland and beyond. It will also provide an important opportunity to assess progress towards the Government’s targets to double the value of Ireland’s blue economy by 2030.

Quiz Event – Father Ted Quiz

  • Details: Fancy dressed optional. Best dressed table WINS a round of drinks. Jigsaw is running a table quiz to raise money for Jigsaw as part of the Jigsaw Giro, a 480km cycle in Sept. Its a great excuse to help a good cause and have a lot of laughs in what promises to be a fun night. EP Launch Event – Keith John

  • Location -Roisin Dubh (Upstairs), Dominic Street, Galway

  • Details: Keith John launches his new EP , Strangers. Support on the night will be from Sonny Casey and Woody Murphy. Keith JohnKeith began his journey as a songwriter, in a small room in Listowel Co. Kerry, with Glen Hansard sharing his thoughts and feelings on what it was to write songs. This time spent with Glen had an important impact on Keith who says this is the moment he first admitted to anyone he wrote songs and hearing his hero sing a song he had recently written really showed Keith that he had something of artistic merit to offer. The Clare native can certainly never be accused of rushing into his love affair with song writing, instead choosing to take his time and hone his craft.

Musical Event – Jamie Harrison Gig

  • Details: Irish Singer/Songwriter and musician Jamie Harrison recently collaborated with British Grammy Award-winning producer Ken Nelson (Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Paolo Nutini) to produce several tracks for his anticipated debut album, each of which will each be released in the coming months. As a guitarist & musician, he has performed internationally in cities including London, Dublin, Melbourne, Cologne, Wellington, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Bermingham, as well as amassing over 2 million views for his covers and instrumentals on Youtube.

Musical Event – The Rubber Wellies

  • Details: Original, entertaining and thought-provoking, the Rubber Wellies are a travelling folk outfit like few others. Based in the Basque Country, Ireland and Britain they are a touring collective skippered by singer-songwriter Harry Bird, multi-instrumentalist Christophe Capewell and fiddler/vocalist Kitty Theodore. With three albums under their belts and ten years of experience together on the road, they have entertained audiences all over Europe and beyond in the manner of the musical troupes of old. Their musical style is an international mash-up of sea shanties, Mexican rancheras, bossa nova, reggae, old-time and swing with a love of feel-good fun. Drawing on narratives from curious everyday occurrences, global politics and folk legends, the Rubber Wellies multi-lingual performances are a mix of musical story-telling and good-time sing-alongs that flip between poignant introspection and carefree raucousness.

Environmental Event – Climate change and Ireland Event

  • Location -Salthill Hotel, Galway

  • Details: The Galway Humanist group, in conjunction with the Humanist Association of Ireland, are organising an event at the Salthill Hotel in Salthill, Galway on 1st July 2018 (beginning at 1:30 PM) to discuss how climate change might impact Ireland and the world as a whole. The main guest speaker will be Dr Cara Augustenborg; an environmental scientist by training “and a media pundit by passion!” Image Magazine recently named her as one of 18 “women to watch” in 2018. Cara was appointed by Minister Denis Naughten as an advisor to Ireland’s Environmental Protection Agency in 2016 and to the first National Dialogue on Climate Action in 2017.
