I always look forward to seeing the latest in Irish Design and the annual Council of Irish Fashion Designer’s Autumn Winter Showcase is certainly a show that I look forward to.
For those who are not familiar the Council of Irish Fashion Designers (CIFD) – it is comprised of Irish fashion designers, milliners and accessories labels. It is an organisation that promotes Irish Design and wishes to build an aspirational brand for the premium sector of the Irish fashion industry and to actively encourage and nurture new entrants to the Irish fashion industry {via}. I love that they are ran by people who are part of the fabric of Irish Design – Eddie Shanahan is the Chairperson, Heidi Higgins the Secretary and Niamh O’Neill the Press Officer. Since they are so woven into the Industry they understand what designers may need so I think that it is a great body to be in place.
The current members of the CIFD are Kabira Allain, Jill DeBurca, Niamh Daniels, Leonora Ferguson, Delphine Grandjouan, Hazel Greene, Heidi Higgins, KDK, Elaine Keogh, Aoife Kirwan, Richard Lewis, Wendy Louise, Davina Lynch, Rebecca Marsden, David O’Malley, Caroline Mitchell, Lucy Nagle, Margaret O’Connor, Niamh O’Neill, Siobhan Quinn, Sophie Rieu and Theo + George.
They show their Autumn Winter Showcase on their Periscope so that everyone can access it and I think that giving such a wide access to the Presentation helps promote Irish Design to those who perhaps are not as familiar. Today I wanted to show some of my favourites from the show with you. This is only a tiny snippet of the amazing pieces on display and I would certainly advise to check out all of the designers.

If you would like to see what the CIFD Autumn 2016 Showcase was like you can click here and see the highlights. In comparison to the 2016 Showcase, I missed hearing Eddie talking before and after the catwalk and to be honest that helped set up the presentation last year. Hopefully, if they stream it again they will include him talking as well. I personally am looking forward to seeing what the future holds for these amazing designers and I loved their AW17 Presentations.
