Glenlo Abbey Hotel, Galway Floralesque 10

This review is actually from earlier this year but I couldn’t not share it on here! For Valentine’s Day this year my amazing boyfriend treated us to a weekend away in the Glenlo Abbey Hotel. The hotel is one pf my favourite in Galway as the hotel has amazing views, beautiful rooms and the staff are always so friendly so he knew he was onto a winner with booking it.

This is actually our second stay here – the last time also for Valentine’s Day two years ago and I have also attended one of the ITWBN Events where we met Erica Fox on site here as well. When you arrive at the gate you are greeted to a stunning windy driveway that leads you to the very impressive abbey building.

The Room

Glenlo Abbey Hotel, Galway Floralesque 6Let’s start with the room – it was simply beautiful. When we entered there was a small hallway that then led into the main room. There was a plush king side bed against the wall opposite the window and it was SO comfortable.

There was also a writing desk and two armchairs in a separate seating area. And the view over the grounds was just beautiful. The room itself was spacious and we loved staying there. Also – how cute Orla Kiely toiletries in the marble bathroom!

This is where Glenlo Abbey really comes into it’s own. Breakfast when we have been there has always been held in the River Room and it is just beautiful. The room is relaxed with stunning high ceilings and although there was quite a few guests there with the bright windows and spacious seating it never felt over crowded.

There is a buffet style area where you can have cereals, breads, toast, fruit etc. and then you also get a hot breakfast option as well. My boyfriend had Eggs Benedict which he said were just amazing and I had the most delicious Homemade Buttermilk Pancakes! The images above do not do it justice at all – the breakfast is one my favourite in Galway 🙂

The Grounds

Unfortunately the weather was not on our side while we were there but I can tell you from previous visits that the grounds are extensive and stunning. They have their own gold course (wow!) and you can take some beautiful walks around the grounds and explore which we love to do. They also have falconry and fishing available on the grounds.

If you are looking to treat your self to a 5 Star Hotel then Glenlo Abbey is certainly a place to look into. You can check out their website for booking and they are also on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
